Energy is the basis for social development. Human survival and development has long been primarily dependent on fossil fuels. Coal, oil, natural gas and other fossil fuels are the major energy resources in China and even the world, which remain unchanged now and for a long period of time in the future. However, the coal-based energy system has low average power generation efficiency (about 30%), while generating huge environmental hazards, which urgently needs improving. Fuel cell is a kind of highly efficient power generation device, which can directly converse the chemical energy of fuels into electrical energy. In various fuel cells, solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) can directly use carbon-based fuels, which can be easily compatible with the existing energy resources supply system, with high one-time power generation efficiency (50-60%), and combined heat and power (CHP) efficiency of up to 80 -90%; SOFC uses all-solid structure, with good long-term stability, which does not need to use precious metal catalysts, and therefore the cost is low. Because of the superior power generation performance and the flexibility of the fuel, SOFC power generation system has a wide range of applications; in the range from megawatts to wattages, it can either be used as large-scale power systems or distributed cogeneration units, or as portable power equipment and supporting power plants. In recent years, the equipment has been in rapid development in China. However, the industrial technology of China in this field is obviously lagged behind other countries; in addition, the SOFC technology and products in developed countries have been blocked against China. China can only take the strategic route of independent development.
